Business Proposal Competition (BPC) is one of the fundamental activities of Tashabos program aimed at stimulating hidden competency, creativity and innovation among youth who want to start a small business that BPC is facilitating to meet this goal. And to practically orient students to applied business concepts, all Tashabos students are taught about business proposal development. A specific format has been developed to help students develop innovative, appropriate and applicable business proposals. These proposals are reviewed by peer Tashabos teachers in each school and the Top 10 proposals selected using TEO criteria. Students with the Top 10 business proposals are asked to present at their school in front of jury consisting of a TEO representative, a Tashabos teacher and school administrator as well as a representative from stakeholders such as Ministry of Industries and Commerce, Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Afghanistan Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Industries and Ministry of Education. The Top 3 proposals are selected and presented awards and certificates of appreciation.
The Business proposal competition in Betab Boys’ high school was jointly organized by TEO and school administration on October 2, 2023. Tashabos students in the school wrote 31 business proposals in different categories. Fortunately, Kabul City Educational Directorate Deputy Finance and Admin Director, Mr. Muvlawi Mohammad Eshaq Muqadas along with his team and District Education Director Mr. Qari Abdul Rahman Khadam attended the competition that their attendance was felt very supportive by the TEO team, school administration, and students. The program was covered by Rahi-Farda television. The contest started with a beautiful voice of a student reciting the Holy Quran.
Tashabos Program Officer briefly presented Tashabos program activities; he mentioned that the main purpose of program is to exhibit the hidden talents of the youths.
At start of the program Kabul City Education Directorate Deputy spoke; he said “I am so pleased today that I attend an event which is pre-requisite for having a prosperous life. In a life without the material facilities, a human will face challenges in daily life. The Tashabos program that TEO implement is an essential and important one. The development in the world is result of endeavours. Dear students high school period is a golden chance for you that fortunately TEO provides you a good opportunity. You become professional entrepreneurs, who are different from unprofessional traders as you consider the customers expectation beside the profit, you are aware of customer rights. Our success is in two things one to seriously consider our Islamic obligation and the other is having sense of patriotism. Once again, I thank TEO leadership that they support students to be socio-economically empowered beside their studies”.
Eight District Education Director, Mr. Khadam mentioned to students that reaching the goal, it is not important to take fast steps but it is important to progress positively with improvement in innovation and creativities. Today you took the initial step which is so important for your bright future.
All Top 10 contesters presented their business proposals on their turns, as a result competition Top 3 students were selected as follow:
1- First position, Mr. Ezatullah, of Grade 11, his business proposal was about designing (gem work on cloth) of plain cloth as his creativity. The gem work on cloth with using machine is one of their important activities.
2- Second position, Mr. Shah Zib, of Grade 12, his business proposal was about sandals making.
3- Third position, Mr. Sahil, of Grade 11, his business proposal was about water-pump repairing service. He told that he started this work for his self-sufficiency.
The business proposal competition ended with the distribution of trophies, business related books, and appreciation certificates to all Top 10 contesters.
