The Tashabos Educational Organization (TEO) in Sar-e Pul Province, through the Global Partnership for Education – System Transformation Grant (GPE-STG) project in partnership with Save the Children International (SCI), is working with communities, teachers, education and other authorities/stakeholders to expand safe, inclusive and supportive learning opportunities for children.

Through Community-Based Schools (CBS), children with limited access to formal education are receiving learning opportunities closer to their communities. The project is also supporting Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) classrooms providing young children with safe and supportive spaces for early learning and development.

In July, 30 ECCD classrooms and 10 latrines were assessed for rehabilitation and improvement. At the same time, 630 children enrolled in CBS received essential learning and classroom materials, including Healing and Education through the Arts (HEART) kits, which support learning, play and children’s well-being.

The project is also providing remedial classes to help children strengthen foundational learning skills and catch up on missed education.

Teachers and education staff are receiving training on Psychological First Aid (PFA), Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), gender and inclusion, child protection and safeguarding to strengthen their capacity to provide safe and supportive learning environment.

By strengthening CBS, ECCD and remedial education, while supporting teachers and improving learning spaces, the project is helping more children access quality learning opportunities in safe, inclusive and supportive environments.
